Samways Fish Merchants has been based at West Bay for as long as our company has been established. It was there where the company started and grew, from supplying local people and restaurants in the area, to supplying the south west and Europe. This expansion in trade led to the opening of our factory, which remains 3 miles from our local port, but our Shop still remains in the same place, directly in front of you when driving into West Bay. Right on the side of the harbour it is always very busy, with customers popping in to collect their evening meal or just a little advise about what’s good. The majority of the time you can’t help leaving with something even if it’s a small pot of cockles, home made lobster soup or homemade dressed crab, the temptation is too much!

The Shop has a fantastic variety of fresh fish from across the south coast, with boats landing every day we supply only the freshest produce.

The Shop opening times are 8am – 5:00pm, 7 days a week, but be aware it is always busiest in the morning with the landings of fresh fish, that is the time to get there, before they sell out! Always remember you can pop in or place an order over the phone and arrange a collection time that is convenient for you. If you are looking for something that does not seem to be on display please ask because we can try and source what you are looking for, as long as it is local!
